Gamedoora in conjunction with TheMentorpreneurs (thementorpreneurs.com), is organizing the 1st of its kind Gamefest 2016 In India. Gamefest will be powered by Gamedoora in association with TheMentorpreneurs for Mentoring support and Catapooolt as crowdfunding partner.
Gamefest is a Pan India Gaming contest to identify, nurture and acknowledge the best indie or studio in India.
This inaugural Gamefest is targeted at the Game fraternity, it aims to stimulate innovation in the creation, development and deployment of startup games studios be it an Indie or a Small Studio. The event offers the possibility to develop an idea into an innovative solution and at the same time, the opportunity to explore the process of game development, in association with the creative fraternity.

Winner got a spot in the international Indie Prize showcase that includes: two free tickets to the conference, a free spot to showcase a game and free accommodation in Europe and Asia during the conference for two developers. The winner also was presented with the GameFest 2016 Trophy and entry to ET Changemakee Challenge of Catapooolt, Rs 10,000 credits if they are able to raise Rs 2 lacs on Dreamwallets via crowd funding.
Gamefest is a gathering of creative people for the purpose of planning, designing, and creating one or more games within a short span of time. Creative people are generally made up of programmers, game designers, artists, and others in development-related fields.
Participants in their group or individually need to develop a short game (on any platform, mobile, pc, console, and using any engine) that can train or showcase in one of the following theme:
The themes would be announced by the organising team. Entries would be invited Pan India for the same, Studio should join Gamedoora and create their teams or individually start working on the themes.
Once the projects are completed our esteemed jury panel of experts would short list the finalist. The finalist would be then mentored by TMP to pitch at the grand final in Mumbai.
The winner of the Gamefest would further be supported by Catapooolt for crowdfunding and raising initial funds.
Teams participating in the Gamefest have to use Gamedoora Platform to build their Project. They have to produce a concept document of the idea that they have in mind to develop under any of the themes listed above. A concept document describes the general idea of the game. This document explains the game idea, refines some initial concepts of the project, and makes sure that teams are clear about the primary objectives before they start.
In your concept document, you should have the following key points:
1. High-level Concept
This is a single line that explains your project. This can be theme based or game play related. For example:
Game: This game is about how fat storage affects the body's’ capabilities. Animation Short: The Film is about how fat storage affects the body’s capabilities.
2. Story and Background
This is where you can expand on the background of the project, and elaborate on the narrative around which the idea is built.
3. Game Play Overview
A one paragraph description of the game, which could be fairly story oriented. In this section, talk about what the player does. Describe the actions (mechanics) that you know will be in the game using verbs. For example: Players will have to explore the stomach cavity, and find tools that will help them to reduce the stored body fat.
4. Key Features
A bullet point list of what the player can expect.
Once the concept document is ready they have 3 weeks to develop the short game to a finished version, which will be go to the jury to short list for the final round.
The short listed teams would then be mentored by TMP for 1 week for be prepared to pitch in front of Investors at the Grand Final.
